Engineers Revolutionize CO2 Conversion: Turning Emissions into Valuable Resources

A new electrode design developed at MIT boosts the efficiency of electrochemical reactions that turn carbon dioxide into ethylene and other products. As the world struggles to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, researchers are seeking practical, economical ways to capture carbon dioxide and convert it into useful products, such as transportation fuels, chemical feedstocks, or even

Suspect Charged with Weapons Offenses at Trump Rally Released from Custody

A man from Las Vegas was taken into custody at a security checkpoint close to Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s rally in California on Saturday. He has since been released and is facing two charges.

Vem Miller, 49 years old, was driving an SUV when he was halted by deputies monitoring the event in the Coachella Valley, located east of Los Angeles. Miller has been charged with possessing a loaded gun and a high-capacity magazine, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office records.

He was released on Saturday after posting a $5,000 bail, though the exact details of his bail conditions are not yet known.

The sheriff’s office reported that the situation “did not compromise the safety of former President Trump or the event attendees.” Miller’s arrest occurred around 5 p.m. local time, just 37 minutes before Trump took the stage at 5:37.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office, along with the U.S. Secret Service and the FBI, issued a statement on Sunday confirming that “President Trump was not in any danger.”

“At this stage, no federal arrests have been made, but the investigation is still active,” the statement added.

“I’m an artist, I’m the last person who would inflict violence on anyone,” he commented, according to the publication.

This incident follows a past assassination attempt on the former president, where a gunfire grazed his ear during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania in July. Furthermore, in September, another individual was charged with attempting to assassinate Trump after being found with a rifle near his golf course in Palm Beach. That individual pleaded not guilty.
