Introducing ‘Cookie,’ the Adorable Gingerbread Plush Toy That’s Captured Hearts Online
A holiday-themed plush toy, reminiscent of classic TY Beanie Babies, has recently enchanted the internet with its sheer cuteness.
Meet “Cookie,” a Brown Gingerbread TY “Beanie Bellies” plushie, which skyrocketed to fame after a viral post on X that has garnered over 27 million views since its appearance last Friday.
Devin Silva, the creator of the viral post, found Cookie to be “so bizarre” that it was almost frightening when they spotted the toy dangling from a peg in a CVS store.
With a “strange shape” and resembling “a bit like a dog,” Cookie features shiny blue eyes and stitching designed to look like white frosting, according to the 18-year-old’s remarks to NBC News. Despite their initial feelings, Silva bought Cookie, and the rest, they say, is history.
In response to Silva’s original post, many users defended Cookie’s appearance, claiming it was either “adorably unique” or “awkwardly cute.” However, some followers did agree with the initial critique.
Silva has not yet replied to interview requests from YSL News.
Following Silva’s post, a wave of fans rushed to buy their own Cookie, resulting in the plush toy being sold out online multiple times within just 24 hours.
Silva even received gratitude from TY, who acknowledged their role in “showcasing Cookie’s charm” in a post on X this past Tuesday.
Capitalizing on Cookie’s fame, Silva started posting photos of Cookie in various settings and created an “official” fan page dedicated to Cookie. This unexpected attention has taken Silva by surprise, yet they are embracing the newfound popularity.
“In today’s world, we definitely needed something to laugh about,” Silva shared with NBC News.
Cookie is ‘Sweet as Can Be,’ and Still Available
As of Wednesday evening, Cookie is available for purchase at a price of $3.99.
Touted as “sweet as can be,” Cookie features frosting-like details and a warm gingerbread grin. According to TY’s product description, “This little friend enjoys holiday songs and cozy nights by the fireplace. Keep Cookie close for a sprinkle of sweetness in your day!”
The Christmas-themed “Beanie Bellies” keychain also comes with a charming poem inscribed on its tag, which reads:
“Put milk out for Santa
“And some sweet treats, too
“Let’s wait for the presents
“That he’ll bring for you.”
Cookie isn’t the only holiday-themed toy capturing attention; Silva and others have also mentioned wanting to get Brrrnard, a snowman plush, and Nutmeg, a slightly larger version of Cookie, following Cookie’s rise to fame.
