Is another winter storm on the horizon after a tough winter blast? Weather prediction details

While the snow from Monday’s storm continues to swirl across the Mid-Atlantic region, attention is now on an incoming weather system expected to create winter chaos from Texas all the way to the East Coast this week.

This upcoming storm is set to start spreading snow and ice from the Texas/Mexico border by Wednesday night, before moving across a large portion of the southern and possibly eastern United States by the week’s end.

“This will significantly impact places that rarely see snow or ice, such as Austin, Dallas, Little Rock, and Nashville,” commented AccuWeather meteorologist Tom Kines during an interview with YSL News on Monday.

Expecting ‘the largest snowfall in several years’

While there is still some uncertainty about the exact trajectory of the storm up the East Coast, predictions suggest that it will bring significant winter weather to the southern Plains later this week, as stated by National Weather Service meteorologist Zack Taylor to YSL News.

Places like Dallas might prepare for one of their heaviest snowfalls in years, according to reports from AccuWeather.

“This storm has sufficient energy to produce snow and ice in parts of Texas, with several inches of snowfall expected in Dallas and along sections of I-20 in northern Texas,” added AccuWeather meteorologist Bernie Rayno in a press release. “Travel across northern Texas could come to a halt from Thursday night into Friday.”

The national college football semifinal event is set for Dallas’ Cotton Bowl on Friday night. Although held indoors, travel to and from the venue may still be disrupted.

“Stay warm, bundle up, and prepare for an increasingly likely significant winter weather event later this week!” advised the National Weather Service in Dallas on Monday.

Taylor noted that once the storm affects Texas, it will shift towards the Southeast, but it remains uncertain whether it will move offshore or head towards the Northeast.

Will the East Coast be affected again?

AccuWeather suggests that as the storm progresses eastward later this week and drifts off the East Coast, it may bring additional effects to regions across the Southeast, Mid-Atlantic states, and even New England, contingent on its precise path.

“There are two potential outcomes for this late-week storm. One way has the storm moving further south with minimal snow and ice. If the storm heads up the coast and gains strength, we may end up with a significant snowstorm from the Carolinas to the Mid-Atlantic, potentially impacting eastern New England,” Rayno explained.

Kines emphasized that snow enthusiasts in the Northeast should be hopeful for a stronger storm, as this would likely enhance chances for wintry conditions in their area.
