Reed Blankenship sealed a 15-12 win for the Philadelphia Eagles by intercepting New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr with just 55 seconds remaining in their Week 3 game.

The Eagles were understandably excited after their comeback victory in the Superdome, scoring 15 of their total points in the final quarter.

However, defensive tackle Jalen Carter went a bit overboard during the celebration. The young player seemed to taunt some Saints’ players, including experienced defensive backs Marshon Lattimore and Tyrann Mathieu, with a double-thumbs down as they returned to the field. This gesture didn’t sit well with Mathieu, who was spotted shouting at the Eagles’ sideline in response.

Carter then strolled along the sideline, encouraging the New Orleans fans to cheer louder. This prompted coach Nick Sirianni, along with defensive line coach Clint Hurtt and chief security officer Dom DiSandro, to step in and hold him back.

Fox cameras captured much of this interaction as the game concluded.

Sirianni didn’t address his confrontation with Carter after the game, yet he seemed pleased with the second-year tackle’s overall performance during the match.

Sirianni praised Carter and his teammate, Jordan Davis, for their preparation for the game against the Saints, which he felt resulted in a successful outcome, limiting a usually potent New Orleans offense to just 12 points.

“Jalen Carter played his heart out,” Sirianni conveyed to reporters.

It’s hard to dispute Sirianni’s take. Carter recorded four tackles, two tackles for loss (TFL), and defended two passes, displaying a strong presence against the Saints, who had to bring in backup center Lucas Patrick after starter Erik McCoy was injured early in the game.

While Sirianni likely preferred if Carter had not engaged with Mathieu and the Saints fans postgame, it didn’t negatively affect the Eagles’ success in securing their second win of the season.
