Jamie Foxx’s team states actor was struck by glass at birthday dinner, requiring stitches
Jamie Foxx’s 57th birthday dinner took an unexpected turn on Friday, the 13th.
The actor known for “Collateral” was reportedly struck in the face by a glass during a scuffle at his celebratory dinner held at the well-known Mr. Chow restaurant in Beverly Hills, as per his representatives.
“Jamie Foxx was enjoying his birthday dinner when someone from another table hurled a glass, hitting him in the mouth. He required stitches and is now recuperating,” Foxx’s representative shared with YSL News on Saturday.
The Beverly Hills Police Department (BHPD) responded to reports of a possible assault involving a deadly weapon at Mr. Chow on Friday night. However, police stated that the allegations of assault turned out to be “unfounded” and were instead related to a “physical altercation between parties.”
A preliminary investigation was conducted by the BHPD, but no arrests were made. The investigation is ongoing.
TMZ was the first to report on the incident involving Foxx at Mr. Chow.
This week has been quite eventful for one of Hollywood’s top talents. On Tuesday, Foxx released his Netflix comedy special “Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was” where he addressed concerns about his health following an illness that led to his hospitalization last April.
“If I can keep being funny, I can keep living,” Foxx joked during his hour-long special.
The stand-up special, which followed a series of performances Foxx delivered in October, also showcased the Golden Globe-nominated actor expressing appreciation to his supporters during his recovery.
“You have no idea how wonderful this feels,” an emotional Foxx said to the crowd in Atlanta (where he was hospitalized). “I was fighting for my life, and now I’m standing here in front of you.”
“What Had Happened Was” marks Foxx’s first major solo project of 2024. He has also produced and appeared in the Luther Vandross documentary “Luther: Never Too Much,” which debuted at the Sundance Film Festival in January. Additionally, he acted in the comedy “Not Another Church Movie,” which was released in May.
