JD Vance Sworn in as the 50th Vice President on Inauguration Day: A Historic Moment

Video captures JD Vance being sworn in as 50th vice president on Inauguration Day

JD Vance took the oath of office as the 50th vice president of the United States at a small inauguration ceremony held inside the Rotunda of the U.S. Capitol on Monday.

Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, who has Second Lady Usha Vance on his staff, officiated the swearing-in alongside family members, President Donald Trump, and other dignitaries.

During the oath-taking, Vance rested his hand on a Bible that was passed down from his great-grandmother, a memento he received from his “Mamaw” when he enlisted in the Marines back in 2003. He pledged to uphold and defend the U.S. Constitution. For this occasion, Vance donned a navy blue Italian suit, tailored specifically for the inauguration by his longtime tailor from suburban Cincinnati.

Before the inauguration events, the Vance family participated in a morning service at St. John’s Episcopal Church in downtown Washington, D.C., a customary practice on Inauguration Day, before they met with former Vice President Kamala Harris and her spouse, Doug Emhoff.
