‘He’s the guy’: Josh Jacobs, Packers praise Jordan Love’s composure

INGLEWOOD, Calif. – On Sunday, Jordan Love showed impressive resilience during the Packers’ 24-19 victory over the Los Angeles Rams, highlighting why teammate Josh Jacobs admires him.

The chance to team up with Love was a major reason why Jacobs chose to join the Green Bay Packers in free agency.

Love’s composure was most evident when he rebounded from a poor interception, ultimately helping the Packers improve their record above .500.

“Regardless of how many hits you take or the game’s challenges, it’s encouraging to see a quarterback remain calm and never give up,” Jacobs told YSL News Sports. “He always believes he can turn things around, no matter the situation.

“We all trust him. He’s the guy for our team. I’m very thankful for him and what he contributes. He’s a significant factor in why I joined.”

Love delivered an exceptional 53-yard pass to wide receiver Jayden Reed, bringing the Packers close to scoring in the first quarter. Jacobs then put the ball in the end zone with a two-yard rush—his first touchdown with the Packers.

This throw was arguably one of Love’s standout moments in his career.

However, Love’s brilliance was slightly overshadowed by a terrible interception in the second quarter, where he attempted to escape from the Packers’ end zone, resulting in a pick-six that put the Rams ahead 13-10. This interception could easily land on an NFL blooper reel.

Yet, Love did not let it affect him.

He went on to complete nine consecutive passes, including two touchdown passes as the Packers scored 14 straight points, enough to hold off the Rams.

“That’s the attitude needed in both football and life. Some events are beyond your control, but your response is what matters,” said Packers coach Matt LaFleur. “Jordan has a unique ability to handle pressure. We’ve seen it since his draft day. He remains unshaken when the going gets tough. Last year clearly showed that.”

Love and the Packers have faced plenty of challenges through the first five weeks of the season. He missed Games 2 and 3 due to a knee injury from their season-opening loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

In Week 4, during a daunting 28-0 deficit against the Minnesota Vikings, Love ignited a remarkable rally that nearly flipped the game. He racked up a career-high 51 pass attempts while throwing four touchdowns, though it was also his second game with three interceptions.

LaFleur mentioned earlier in the week that Love was regaining his “groove” after a two-week absence.

Despite the pressure of the first pick-six of his career, Love responded strongly against the Rams, achieving a season-high passer rating of 95.7.

With a challenging start to the season, Love’s experiences are promising for Green Bay. As their franchise quarterback, he is well-equipped for the battles ahead as the Packers aim for playoff contention in a competitive NFC North, where all teams are currently doing well.

“The interception was a poor choice, and it was tough, but it’s about how you bounce back,” Love reflected. “We need to embody toughness and persist. It’s a game that lasts four quarters; it won’t be perfect. It’s crucial to focus on our response to challenges. Adversity is always part of the game.”
