Joshua Jackson’s Childhood Home Lost in LA Wildfires
The Los Angeles house where Joshua Jackson spent his formative years has been destroyed due to the ongoing wildfires sweeping through the area.
Jackson’s representative, Dominique Appel, confirmed via an email to YSL News on Sunday that the actor’s home in Topanga Canyon was lost in the fire that occurred over the weekend.
“First and foremost, everyone close to me who has been affected by the fire is safe,” Jackson noted in his statement. “My daughter, family, and neighbors all escaped unharmed.”
He has a daughter named Juno Rose Diana, who is 4 years old, with actress and separated spouse Jodie Turner-Smith.
Since Tuesday, six fires have broken out across Los Angeles, devastating neighborhoods and leaving a path of destruction. As of Sunday, three of these fires were still ongoing, with Santa Ana winds expected to intensify from Sunday night through Wednesday, potentially creating gusts between 30-50 mph.
LA County Sheriff Robert Luna reported that 14 fatalities had been confirmed, although the numbers may vary from the coroner’s report (the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner indicated there were 16 deaths as of Saturday night). Additionally, around 105,000 residents have been ordered to evacuate their homes.
Jackson, who was born in Vancouver, Canada, lived in Topanga until he turned 8. He bought the house he grew up in back in 2001. In a conversation with Mr Porter in July 2021, he shared, “My father was unfortunately not a good figure in my life and left us; however, that house in Topanga represented simplicity, making it quite a healing experience for me to reclaim it.”
The home has also been a source of conflict in his divorce proceedings with Turner-Smith. In a December 2024 court filing, she indicated that Jackson claimed the land of their former shared residence was solely his, despite her contribution of $800,000 towards the downpayment.
According to the filing, Jackson allegedly requested Turner-Smith to vacate the home when they separated in September 2023. Since then, she has been staying in various rented accommodations across Los Angeles, Vancouver, and London.
The “Doctor Odyssey” star is among numerous celebrities who have either lost their homes or been forced to evacuate due to the wildfires, including well-known figures like Paris Hilton, James Woods, Cameron Mathison, Billy Crystal, and Tina Knowles.
“Unfortunately, my cherished home has not survived the fires,” Jackson concluded. “However, I feel immensely grateful to be surrounded by loved ones today.”
