Julie Chrisley’s Prison Sentence Maintained as Appeal for Shorter Term Fails

Julie Chrisley’s 7-Year Prison Sentence Remains After Failure to Reduce It

Julie Chrisley, known from the show “Chrisley Knows Best,” will continue her seven-year prison term for tax evasion and bank fraud, as determined by a federal judge.

The 51-year-old former reality TV personality appeared in a federal court in Atlanta on Wednesday morning for a hearing three months after the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals highlighted that the original court made errors in calculating her prison time, pointing out insufficient evidence of her complete participation in the bank fraud scheme involving her and her husband Todd Chrisley.

Based on a court document reviewed by YSL News, U.S. District Judge Eleanor L. Ross reiterated her ruling from 2022 and provided “justification for the sentence imposed” during a 50-minute hearing. The ruling included an 84-month prison term, five years of supervised release, and over $4.7 million in restitution, which is the total amount prosecutors claimed was obtained illegally.

An attorney representing the Chrisleys had sought a reduced sentence for Julie Chrisley, according to The Associated Press. Meanwhile, U.S. attorneys contended that Julie Chrisley was an essential participant in the fraud scheme.

“I apologize for my actions and the circumstances that brought me to this point,” Chrisley stated, according to the AP.

She expressed that her time in prison had been “the most challenging period in my life. I can never make it up to my children for what they have endured, and for that, I am truly sorry,” she mentioned, as reported by People magazine.

Reports indicate that the judge clarified that her 2022 ruling was a lesser sentence than what prosecutors initially demanded for Chrisley’s offenses. During the hearing, Chrisley’s children, Savannah (27) and Chase Chrisley (28), were present as noted by the AP and People.

According to an updated forfeiture order issued by Ross, which YSL News reviewed, Todd Chrisley was found to have “received a total of $17,270,741.57 in funds as a result of his criminal activities” and was mandated to forfeit that sum to the government.

Julie Chrisley has now returned to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.

YSL News has contacted a representative for the Chrisley family for further comment.

Expected Release Date for Julie Chrisley is April 2028

Todd, 56, and Julie Chrisley, who presented themselves as real estate moguls in the South on their USA Network programs, are both serving prison sentences after a jury convicted them in June 2022 of plotting to defraud community banks in Atlanta out of over $36 million through bogus loans, along with defrauding the IRS and committing tax evasion.

Julie Chrisley was also convicted of obstruction of justice and wire fraud.

Five months later, Todd Chrisley was sentenced to 12 years behind bars, while Julie Chrisley received a seven-year term. Both began their sentences in January 2023.

A records check by YSL News on September 25 shows Todd Chrisley is expected to be released from FPC Pensacola in Florida by July 2032, whereas Julie’s release from FMC Lexington in Kentucky was initially set for April 2028 before her resentencing.

“Chrisley Knows Best” ran on USA Network for 10 seasons from 2014 to 2023. A spin-off titled “Growing Up Chrisley,” featuring the couple’s adult children, Chase and Savannah, aired for four seasons starting in 2019.
