Raw pork sausage and bologna recalled: Over 10,000 pounds of meat included in separate recalls

Federal officials have announced the recall of nearly 10,000 pounds of raw pork sausage and bologna across two separate incidents.

The recalled products originate from Impero Foods & Meats in Baltimore and Ralph’s Packing Company in Oklahoma, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).

These meat items were distributed to restaurants and stores in at least four different states, as stated by the USDA.

Here’s what you need to know about the recalls, including the affected products, their sales locations, and what actions to take if you’ve purchased any of the affected items.

Impero Foods Recall

Impero Foods & Meats, Inc. is recalling approximately 7,599 pounds of raw pork sausage products that were made without proper federal inspection, as reported by the USDA.

These products were manufactured between October 3 and December 19 and are marked with the establishment number “EST. 10827.”

The recalled items are:

  • 10-pound white cardboard boxes containing a plastic bag labeled “Old World Italian Sausage” with “rope” handwritten on the outside.
  • 10-pound white cardboard boxes containing a plastic bag labeled “Old World Italian Sausage” with “link” handwritten on the outside.

These products were sent to restaurants and retailers in Delaware, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. Some may have been sold at deli counters without labels or any other form of identification.

Ralph’s Packing Company Recall

Ralph’s Packing Company is recalling just over 3,100 pounds of ready-to-eat pork and beef bologna products because of mislabeling and the potential presence of milk, which is an allergen not indicated on the label, according to the USDA.

The affected pork and beef garlic bologna was produced since September 2022, can be frozen, and carries the establishment number “EST. 51557.”

The recalled items include:

  • 16-ounce or larger vacuum-sealed packages of “Ralph’s CIRCLE R BRAND GARLIC BOLOGNA” with lot codes 0093, 0654, 0804, 1074, 1153, 1224, 1374, 1774, 1924, 2572, 2974, 3132, and 3483.
