Oasis Set to Reunite After 15 Years of Feuds
LONDON – The iconic British rock band Oasis announced a reunion on Tuesday after being apart for 15 years. Brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher will be hosting several live performances throughout the UK next year.
Oasis, famed for their debut album “Definitely Maybe,” which came out 30 years ago, disbanded in 2009 when lead guitarist and principal songwriter Noel Gallagher expressed he couldn’t collaborate with frontman Liam Gallagher any longer.
In a post on X, the band confirmed, “This is it, this is happening,” and shared that tickets would be available for purchase starting Saturday. Their first concert is scheduled for July 4, 2025, in Cardiff, Wales.
The band will perform a total of 14 shows in Cardiff, Manchester (where the band originated in 1991), London, Edinburgh, Scotland, and Dublin, marking the domestic leg of their world tour. Information regarding US dates is yet to be revealed.
The band declared, “The guns have fallen silent. The stars have aligned. The long wait is over. Come see it. It will not be televised,” in a statement on their website.
This announcement comes after a weekend of rumors regarding a reunion, leading to a substantial 160% increase in streaming across various platforms globally over a two-hour period on Monday compared to the previous week, according to Spotify.
The upcoming tour in 2025 will also mark the 30-year anniversary of Oasis’ second album “(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?”, featuring the hit singles “Don’t Look Back in Anger” and “Wonderwall.”
The release of “Roll with It” from the album in August 1995 sparked a fierce chart competition with Blur’s “Country House,” a rivalry heavily covered by the media, with Blur ultimately clinching the top spot.
“(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?” became a monumental success, selling over 22 million copies worldwide and establishing itself as the top-selling album of the 1990s in Britain and a breakthrough for the band in the U.S.
Throughout the 1990s, the affair between the Gallagher brothers often resulted in altercations during tours, a dynamic that continued post-separation.
“He believes he is the best and I believe I am, you know what I mean?” Liam Gallagher remarked in 2017.
