Employee at Colorado Panera calming down angry customer using metal pizza paddle
At a Panera in Glendale, Colorado, one worker is seen restraining an unstable customer while another strikes him with a metal pizza peel. Authorities report that the suspect remains at large.
Staff members at a Colorado Panera Bread collaborated to subdue a disruptive customer who was shouting racial epithets and throwing objects.
The incident that took place on Tuesday involved a suspect who was yelling, knocking things off the counter, and attacking other customers at the Panera located in Glendale, a suburb of Denver, as reported by KDRV-TV.
A bystander filmed a now-famous clip that reveals the suspect pushing a customer to the floor. One employee is shown restraining the suspect while another strikes him four times with a metal pizza paddle.
“A guy intervened and helped keep that person from being harmed further, doing his best to hold him down,” observer Natalie Wiersma shared with KDRV-TV.
Wiersma referred to the employee who wielded the pizza paddle as “my personal hero,” commenting that the action was “very effective.”
YSL News has contacted Panera Bread for a response.
Suspect allegedly shouted racial slurs
“The suspect was screaming at the workers, who looked really confused, saying, ‘We don’t have your phone,’” Wiersma recounted.
Authorities indicated that the suspect threw a smoothie at employees and used a racial slur before the fight broke out, as reported by KDRV-TV. The suspect fled the scene before the police arrived, only to return later, causing another disturbance where a man sustained minor injuries.
If anyone has information regarding this incident or the whereabouts of the suspect, they are urged to contact the Glendale Police Department at (303) 759-1511.
