Queen Camilla has a chest infection, cancels engagements, according to the palace
Queen Camilla, the spouse of King Charles III of the UK, has had to cancel her scheduled events this week due to a chest infection, as confirmed by Buckingham Palace on Tuesday.
At 77 years old, Camilla is recuperating at home, but specific details regarding her health have not been disclosed, which is common for royal health matters.
A representative from the palace stated, “Her Majesty The Queen is currently unwell with a chest infection and has been advised by her doctors to take a brief period of rest.”
“With deep regret, Her Majesty has had to withdraw from her engagements for this week, although she is hopeful to recover in time for this weekend’s Remembrance events.”
This news arrives amidst health worries concerning King Charles as well. Earlier in February, it was revealed he was diagnosed with cancer. Before this was made public, he had a “corrective procedure” at The London Clinic, after which the palace explained he was receiving treatment for an enlarged prostate. Specific details about the type of cancer have not been shared by the palace.
Since then, the king has resumed his public duties.
In another health matter, Princess Kate disclosed in September that she completed chemotherapy after her own cancer diagnosis. Back in March, she announced that she had been diagnosed with cancer and would be undergoing preventative chemotherapy. Kate mentioned in her September update that she is focusing on “doing what I can to stay cancer-free,” but added that her journey to complete healing remains “long.”
The princess has made some return to public appearances, including a surprise visit with Prince William in Southport, England, where they met with emergency service workers and families affected by a mass stabbing at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class.
