A new car seat featuring lullabies, white noise, and soft lighting launched at CES 2025
On Wednesday, Evenflo introduced a car seat aimed at assisting parents in calming babies by using a mix of sounds, melodies, and lights.
The product, named the Evenflo SensorySoothe, was revealed at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.
Describing it as “groundbreaking technology,” Evenflo shared that SensorySoothe can connect to a mobile application, enabling parents to control the seat’s handle. This handle includes lights for visual engagement, plays sounds, and emits songs to entertain babies.
The company emphasized that the design of the car seat is based on research.
“Based on studies on infant sensory development, SensorySoothe incorporates lights and sounds suitable for different developmental phases, including high-contrast effects for newborns and engaging songs for older infants,” the company stated in their press release.
Sharon Ruggieri, Evenflo’s senior director of product management, commented in the press release expressing her understanding of the stress parents face.
“Every parent has experienced this – stuck in a vehicle, a restaurant, or a public location, juggling a crying baby and feeling overwhelmed,” she noted, emphasizing that this car seat aims to reduce that anxiety.
The car seat operates on four AA batteries, boasting over 15 hours of battery life, according to Evenflo.
While a price has not yet been disclosed for the car seat, Evenflo mentioned that the SensorySoothe is set to start shipping by mid-February 2025. It will also be available on online platforms like Babylist, Amazon, Target, and Walmart.
Functionality of the Evenflo SensorySoothe
Users can manage the SensorySoothe either through the Evenflo app, voice commands via Siri or Google, or by using the buttons on the car seat itself.
Parents can customize the sound and light combinations that their babies prefer. Options include white noise, lullabies, and various upbeat tunes, as stated by the company.
Additionally, customers can synchronize the car seat’s lighting with the sounds, or use the Amber Car Seat Nightlight for a gentle illumination while traveling at night.
Sarah Haverstick, Senior Manager of Safety Advocacy & Consumer Care at Evenflo, highlighted in the press release that this car seat removes the necessity of attaching toys, which could potentially become hazards in case of an accident.
Traditionally, parents often feel compelled to attach toys to their baby’s seats for entertainment or comfort. Now, according to Haverstick, the SensorySoothe’s handle fulfills that role.
“Your baby will not only feel calm and engaged while traveling, but they will also be safe,” Haverstick added.
SensorySoothe will launch alongside other advanced car seats and travel systems.
This car seat is available in six colors, including yellow, blue, and gray, and accommodates premature infants and babies weighing from 3 to 30 pounds.
