Texas Retains Top Spot as Ohio State Falls Following Oregon Defeat in US LBM Coaches Poll After Week 7

 

Texas Stays at No. 1, Ohio State Drops After Oregon’s Victory in US LBM Coaches Poll for Week 7


The latest weekend of college football lived up to expectations, bringing clarity to the top of the US LBM Coaches Poll. All voting panel members agreed on the top two teams.

 

Texas retains the No. 1 spot after a commanding victory over their rival, Oklahoma. The Longhorns received first-place votes from 53 out of 55 participating coaches. The other two votes for the top position went to Oregon, who defeated Ohio State in a thrilling matchup during prime time. The Ducks rise to No. 2 in the poll, earning second-place votes from all remaining ballots.

Penn State surged to No. 3 following their comeback victory against Southern California, overtaking Georgia, which remains at No. 4. Ohio State falls to No. 5. Miami (Fla.) and Alabama hold steady in sixth and seventh, respectively, while LSU, Clemson, and Tennessee complete the top ten.

Mississippi dropped seven positions to No. 15 after being edged out by LSU’s last-minute comeback. Oklahoma and Utah fall completely out of the Top 25 this week.

 

Army makes its first appearance in the poll at No. 24, boasting a perfect 6-0 record after a dominant performance against UAB. Nebraska returns to the rankings this week at No. 25.
