Tragedy Strikes as Small Plane Crashes into California Rooftop, Leaving Two Dead and Eighteen Injured

 

 

Two fatalities and 18 injuries reported after small aircraft crashes into rooftop of California building, police confirm


 

SAN DIEGO — On Thursday, a small airplane crashed into a building rooftop in Southern California, leading to the deaths of two individuals and injuring 18 others, according to officials.

 

Fullerton police and fire units rushed to the scene after receiving alerts about an “unknown aircraft” that collided with a commercial building around 2 p.m. local time, as stated by Fullerton Police Department spokesperson Kristy Wells to YSL News. The event, which is still under investigation, took place approximately half a mile from Fullerton Municipal Airport.

Following the incident, ten victims were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment, while eight others were treated on-site and released, according to the Fullerton Police Department’s update on X. It is still uncertain if those who died were aboard the aircraft.

Upon their arrival, law enforcement and firefighters began clearing the vicinity of businesses due to an active fire. Local news coverage captured smoke billowing from the building.

 

The crash triggered a 4-alarm fire and prompted a significant response from emergency services, stated officials to ABC 7. U.S. Representative Lou Correa, who serves parts of Orange County, mentioned in a statement on X that the aircraft struck a furniture manufacturing facility.

 

The Federal Aviation Administration informed YSL News that the downed aircraft was a single-engine Van’s RV-10.

 

The FAA along with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will conduct an investigation. “The NTSB will lead the inquiry,” the agency stated.

Fullerton is located around 30 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles.
