Tragic Road Rage Incident Claims Father’s Life in Front of His Children in North Carolina

A father shot dead in front of his three children during a suspected road rage incident in North Carolina

A man in North Carolina has been charged with multiple offenses after officials reported that he shot and killed another driver during a road rage confrontation last weekend. The suspect also fired at the victim’s three children who were in the vehicle.

The incident took place around 4:53 p.m. on Saturday in Newton, which is approximately 44 miles northwest of Charlotte, as stated in a press release from the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday evening.

When deputies arrived at the location, they discovered a man had been shot. The victim was later identified as 40-year-old Jeffery Michael Guida, who was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the sheriff’s report.

Witnesses informed investigators that both Guida and another individual exited their vehicles near an intersection.

According to witnesses, the other individual, identified as 75-year-old Terrell Eugene Giddens, fired several rounds into Guida’s car while his three children were inside. The children, aged 2, 11, and 13, thankfully remained unharmed.

Witnesses provided deputies with descriptions of the vehicles and individuals involved, allowing investigators to locate Giddens at a residence in Sherrills Ford.

Giddens has been charged with one count of murder and three counts of attempted first-degree murder, as reported by the sheriff’s office. His first court appearance took place on Monday, according to their statement.

Guida’s family attended court on the same day but chose not to speak to the media, as reported by local television station WSOC-TV. Giddens told the judge that his family would be hiring an attorney for him, the outlet noted.

The Catawba County Clerk’s Office informed YSL News on Wednesday morning that Giddens opted to forgo a court-appointed attorney. It remains unclear who is currently representing him in court.
