Audio Issue: Trump Stands for 18 Minutes During Rally Due to ‘Technical Difficulties’
During a rally in Detroit on Friday evening, Donald Trump encountered an audio failure, causing him to spend approximately 18 minutes wandering the stage while waiting for the issue to be resolved.
While discussing the economy in Michigan’s biggest city, Trump’s microphone unexpectedly stopped working.
He attempted to use a backup hand-held microphone, which also failed. Subsequently, Trump began moving around on stage, engaging with staff members as the audience cheered and even started a wave to fill the time.
A sign read, “Technical difficulties.” and “Complicated business.”
The Right Side Broadcast Network, which was streaming Trump’s rally live, mentioned that the campaign team reached out for assistance regarding their microphone situation.
After around 15 minutes of delay, the music began to play – specifically, Survivor’s “Eye of the Tiger” – and Trump’s microphone eventually started working again a little later.
Expressing his frustration, Trump stated, “I won’t pay the bill for this stupid company that rented us this c—. I won’t pay the bill, and then we’ll have a story that Trump didn’t pay the bill to a contractor.”
A spokeswoman for Trump’s campaign did not provide an immediate comment, and a representative from Huntington Place could not be reached for comment.
Quickly, the response team for Kamala Harris’ campaign posted a video on X, showcasing Trump’s “awkwardly walking in circles on stage” while waiting for the microphone to be fixed.
The microphone problems at the rally occurred just days after another unusual event for Trump in Pennsylvania. During that town hall, Trump had to stop due to two medical emergencies, leading him to turn it into a mini-concert, at times standing still or moving robotically to the music.
Democrats, including Harris, President Joe Biden, and former President Barack Obama, have made fun of Trump regarding this music-themed incident. Obama remarked during a Tucson rally, “Can you imagine if I did that? Now, our playlist would probably be better.”
