Burglary at Trump’s Virginia campaign office; suspect sought

Authorities are on the lookout for a man believed to have broken into a campaign office tied to former president and current Republican candidate, Donald Trump.

Authorities in Virginia are in pursuit of a man they believe burglarized a Trump for President 2024 campaign office recently.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office reported that the unidentified suspect was involved in the break-in that took place on Sunday at the campaign headquarters located in Ashburn, Virginia. This office is utilized not only by Donald Trump’s campaign but also serves as the base for the Virginia 10th District Republican Committee, according to the sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office received a report of the burglary around 9 p.m. and dispatched deputies to the scene. Security camera footage was acquired showing a suspect dressed in dark clothing, wearing a dark cap and carrying a backpack during the break-in.

“It’s uncommon for a political campaign office to experience a break-in,” Sheriff Mike Chapman stated in the announcement. “We are committed to finding the suspect and uncovering the reasons behind this incident, including what might have been taken or left behind.”

In a related development, the FBI is looking into reports that Iranian agents breached Trump’s campaign through cyber means, amid ongoing concerns over foreign interventions in U.S. elections.

No comment from Trump’s campaign regarding the burglary

No statement was provided by the Republican Party of Virginia or the Trump campaign when approached by the Staunton News Leader, a part of the YSL News Network, as the investigation by the sheriff’s office is still ongoing.

“We typically refrain from commenting on investigations,” stated Ken Nunnenkamp, executive director of the Republican Party of Virginia.

As of now, neither the sheriff’s office nor Trump’s campaign has disclosed any information regarding what items, if any, may have been stolen during the burglary.
