Innovative Amorphous Nanosheets Crafted from Challenging Metal Oxides and Oxyhydroxides

A team has pioneered a new technique for synthesizing amorphous nanosheets by employing solid-state surfactants. These ultra-thin amorphous nanosheets can now be produced from various kinds of metal oxides and hydroxides. This innovation significantly broadens their applicability across various technologies such as the potential advancement of next-generation fuel cells. Researchers at Nagoya University in Japan

American Airlines Trials New Boarding System at Various Airports to Eliminate ‘Gate Lice’

As the busy holiday season approaches, American Airlines is introducing a new system aimed at preventing the issue commonly referred to as “gate lice.”

“Gate Lice” describes passengers who crowd around the gate, eager to board the plane before their boarding group is called.

Though American Airlines avoids using the term “gate lice” for its customers, it is adopting a new system to enhance the boarding process for both passengers and staff.

“We are continuously seeking ways to streamline the boarding experience for our customers and our team members,” Rachel Warner, an American Airlines representative, shared with YSL News.

“Gate agents have many responsibilities, so we are always exploring technological innovations to ease their tasks as well,” she added.

Here’s what you need to know about the new boarding system from American Airlines.

Where is American Airlines testing the new boarding system?

Warner notes that the new system is currently being tested at the following airports:

  • ABQ: Albuquerque International Sunport
  • TUS: Tucson International Airport
  • DCA: Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport

“The testing went very well in Tucson and Albuquerque,” Warner reported. “We just launched the system at DCA, and we’ll monitor its progress.”

When did this initiative begin?

While Warner did not specify an exact date for when the new system was initiated, she mentioned it began a few weeks back.

“We are happy with how the test has progressed thus far,” she added.

How the new American Airlines system enhances the boarding experience

Warner emphasized that American Airlines prioritizes its passengers, and enhancing the boarding process is crucial for ensuring a positive travel experience.

“This privilege can depend on where passengers are seated on the plane, their membership status, or if they hold a specific credit card,” she explained. “We aim to guarantee that our customers can board the plane in the proper order.”
