Cristiano Ronaldo Launches YouTube Channel, Achieves 1 Million Subscribers in Just 90 Minutes
Globally renowned soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo has set a new record as the fastest person to gain 1 million subscribers on YouTube this week.
He launched his YouTube channel, UR Cristiano, on Wednesday. Just as he often accomplishes goals within 90 minutes on the field, it took the same amount of time for him to achieve 1 million subscribers on this platform.
Later that evening, Ronaldo proudly held up YouTube’s Golden Creator Award, celebrating the milestone with his family and a massive group of fans across social media.
A simple post from Ronaldo asking fans to SIUUUbscribe—playing on his famous “SIUUU” celebration—was all it took for this rapid growth.
Ronaldo is already on track to earn YouTube’s Diamond Creator Award for reaching 10 million subscribers, as his channel has already amassed 24 million subscribers and is still climbing as of Thursday.
“The collaboration between YouTube and football icon Cristiano Ronaldo has been a passionate project, and seeing his channel take off is incredible!” stated Pedro Pina, vice president of YouTube for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, in an interview with YSL News Sports on Thursday.
“This is merely the start of an amazing journey, and we are excited to be part of it. Huge congratulations to Cristiano and his team! Let’s keep those SIUUUUUUUBSCRIPTIONS coming!”
At 39, Ronaldo is regarded as one of the best soccer players of all time. The Portuguese forward has played for elite clubs such as Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Juventus, and is currently part of Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia.
Ronaldo holds the title of the most followed individual on Instagram with 636 million followers, along with 170 million on Facebook. He is also the third most followed user on X, trailing behind Elon Musk and former U.S. President Barack Obama, with 112.6 million followers.
While Ronaldo’s subscriber count on YouTube has yet to reach the heights of American social media sensation MrBeast, who boasts 311 million subscribers, this impressive debut further exemplifies Ronaldo’s global appeal and marketability as a legendary soccer figure.
