Jana Duggar, the eldest daughter of the Duggar family, weds Stephen Wissmann: ‘A dream realized’
Jana Duggar, known from TLC’s “Counting On” and “19 Kids and Counting,” has tied the knot!
The 34-year-old daughter of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar exchanged vows with 31-year-old Stephen Wissmann in Prairie Grove, Arkansas, during a grand celebration attended by 500 guests, according to an exclusive report from People.
YSL News has reached out to the Duggar family for their remarks.
The wedding came just two months after their engagement. Jana’s bridal entourage featured her sisters Jessa Duggar Seewald (the maid of honor), Joy-Anna Forsyth, Johannah Duggar, Jinger Duggar Vuolo, and Jordyn Duggar, along with sister-in-law Abbie Duggar. Her father, Jim Bob Duggar, escorted her down the aisle.
Before the wedding, Jana described the occasion as “a dream come true” in an interview with People. She expressed, “Coming from two large families, we cherish the opportunity to come together and celebrate such significant moments. Having everyone there means a lot to us.”
The ceremony took place about 30 minutes from her childhood home in Tontitown, where she grew up surrounded by her siblings.
Who is Stephen Wissmann?
As reported by People, Wissmann is one of 13 siblings and resides in Nebraska with his large family. His work involves installing irrigation systems, as well as sandblasting and painting.
Jana will relocate from Arkansas to join Wissmann in Nebraska, where they have been renovating a small house they purchased together.
How Jana Duggar and Stephen Wissmann Met
The couple first crossed paths through their families over a decade ago.
“I recall them visiting our home around 13 years ago when they got snowed in, which is quite rare in Arkansas,” Jana shared with People.
“We played games into the night and did puzzles together until the snow melted and they could leave. I don’t remember Stephen well since I was older and he wasn’t really on my radar at that time.”
Years later, they attempted to date but decided to part ways. However, they maintained contact, and Jana’s brother Jeremiah married Stephen’s sister Hannah in 2022. Their relationship blossomed again earlier this year when they acknowledged, “We still enjoy each other’s company; we still truly appreciate one another,” said Duggar.
Controversies Surrounding Jana Duggar’s Family
The series “Counting On” aired for 11 seasons from 2015 until its cancellation in 2021 following Josh Duggar’s indictment on charges related to child pornography. He is the oldest son of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar and is currently serving a 12-year prison sentence.
This series was a spinoff of “19 Kids and Counting,” which was broadcast from 2008 to 2015, and was also halted after revelations that Josh had sexually assaulted five young girls when he was a teenager, including some of his sisters.
Last year, the four-part documentary series “Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets” premiered, featuring allegations, including those from their fourth child, Jill Duggar Dillard, against the reality TV family known for their large family and conservative principles. The documentary suggested that the Duggar parents were involved with a cult led by an alleged predator during their youth.
Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar responded to how their family was depicted in the Amazon Prime series, expressing that it “paints a misleading and sensationalized view of many individuals and situations because sadly that’s the trend in entertainment these days.”
