Justin Herbert Injury Update: Chargers QB Reinforces Ankle Injury in Week 3

Quarterback Justin Herbert had to leave the game for the Los Angeles Chargers during Week 3 as he aggravated an ankle injury he had from the previous week.

The 26-year-old player experienced a high ankle sprain during the Chargers’ Week 2 match against the Carolina Panthers and appeared to hurt it again while playing against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the third quarter. On the broadcast, Herbert was shown limping off to the sidelines after suffering a significant tackle.

Herbert was attended to in the medical tent on the Chargers’ sideline. Backup quarterback Taylor Heinicke came in to replace him.

Justin Herbert Injury Update

The Chargers quarterback briefly left the field for the medical tent due to his ankle injury, as confirmed by the team. He did not return to the match following the re-injury.

Post-game, Herbert was spotted in a walking boot. He mentioned that while the injury felt okay before the game, it became bothersome as the match progressed.

After the game, Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh stated he didn’t have any further updates regarding the injuries sustained by various players, including Herbert (ankle), Joey Bosa (hip), and Rashawn Slater (pectoral). He added that he intended to pull Herbert from the game if he showed any limp or discomfort.

“As soon as I noticed Justin limping, he was out of the game,” Harbaugh explained. “I took him out immediately.”

Initially, Herbert was deemed “questionable to return.” He was later seen limping on the sidelines wearing a cap.
