Porsche Recall Due to Risk of Wheel Detachment

Porsche is recalling 1,851 vehicles. According to the NHTSA report, “the center lock wheel bolt might break, resulting in wheel detachment.”

This issue can cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the likelihood of a crash.

Porsche recommends that owners do not use the affected models until repairs are completed. Dealers will examine the wheel fastening system and replace any faulty parts as needed. Recall letters are anticipated to be sent by Dec. 27. For assistance, owners can reach out to Porsche customer service at 1-800-767-7243, using recall code ARC4.

Affected Porsche vehicles (1,851 total):

  • 2024 718 Spyder RS

BMW Recall for Potential Passenger Safety Concerns

BMW is recalling 3,312 of its 2025 X1 xDrive28i and X1 M35i models. The NHTSA report indicates that “the B-Pillar reinforcement plates on both sides may lack adequate structural integrity.”

Reduced strength in the B-Pillar structure could endanger passenger safety during a collision, increasing the chance of injury.

BMW is in the process of resolving this issue. Notification letters will be sent by Dec. 27, and owners can contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.

Recalled BMW vehicles (3,312 total):

  • 2025 X1 M35i

Honda Motorcycle Recall Due to Potential Engine Stall

Honda is recalling 18,196 units of its 2018-2021 GL1800 Goldwing motorcycles. The NHTSA report mentions that “the primary drive gear bolt on the crankshaft may snap, which could lead to an engine stall and rear wheel lockup.”

This situation heightens the risk of crashes or injuries.

Dealers will replace the primary drive gear bolt at no charge. Recall letters are expected to be sent by Dec. 20. Owners can contact Honda customer service at 1-866-784-1870, with recall number KQ9.

First Recall for Loss of Drive Power in EV Mode

Mazda is recalling 14,902 of its 2024 CX-90 and 2025 CX-70 plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. The NHTSA report indicates that “software issues in the inverter may lead to malfunction indicator lights turning on and could cause a loss of power while in electric vehicle (EV) mode.”

A loss of drive power raises the risk of a potential crash.

To remedy this, dealers will install updated inverter software free of charge. Recall letters are expected to be mailed out by Dec. 30. Owners can contact Mazda customer service at 1-800-222-5500 (Option 6). The recall number for this issue is 7024J.

Mazda has also issued another recall affecting 31,488 units of the CX-70 and CX-90. The NHTSA report states, “the software in the powertrain control module (PCM) and engine control modules (ECM) may cause warning lights to activate and result in a loss of drive power.”

This issue similarly poses an increased risk of accidents.

Dealers will reprogram the PCM and ECM software for free. Recall notification letters are anticipated soon.

Notifications will be sent by December 30. Vehicle owners can reach Mazda customer support at 1-800-222-5500, Option 6. The recall number from Mazda is 7024J.

Mazda is recalling a total of 38,926 units of the 2024 CX-90. According to the NHTSA report, “the engine might fail to restart after the idling stop feature (i-stop) shuts down the engine because of a software issue.”

If the engine does not restart, it could heighten the risk of an accident, as stated in the report.

To address this issue, dealerships will update the software in the powertrain control module (PCM) and the battery energy control module (BECM) at no cost. Recall notifications are anticipated to be dispatched by December 30. Owners can contact Mazda customer service at 1-800-222-5500, Option 6, and the recall number is 7024J.

Regarding instrument cluster display and function issues

Mazda is recalling 80,915 units of the 2024-2025 CX-90 and 2025 CX-70 models that include a Dash Electrical Supply Unit (ESU). The NHTSA recall report states, “during the vehicle’s startup, the defroster, seat belt warning, 360-degree view monitor, and the PHEV high-voltage battery cooling system might not work correctly.”

The report mentions that a malfunctioning ESU can raise the potential for a crash.

To resolve this issue, dealers will reprogram the Dash ESU with enhanced software at no extra charge. Recall notifications are expected to be sent by December 30. Owners can reach Mazda customer service at 1-800-222-5500, Option 6, with the recall number 7124J.

An inflator explosion could send metal fragments towards the driver or passengers, as noted in the report. This poses a significant risk of injury or even death.

Dealers will replace the driver’s side front airbag module at no cost. Recall notification letters are projected to be delivered by December 27. Owners can reach Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298. The recall numbers for Volkswagen are 69EG and 69GQ.
