Mountain Dew VooDew 2024: What’s the Halloween mystery flavor of this soft drink?
Fans of Mountain Dew are buzzing with theories about this year’s surprise flavor for Halloween.
For its sixth consecutive year, PepsiCo has unveiled a Mountain Dew VooDew drink ahead of Halloween, touting it as a mysterious flavor.
This year’s edition was introduced in early September and should remain available in stores until Halloween. It can be purchased in both regular and Zero Sugar options, offered in 20-ounce bottles or 12-pack cans of 12 ounces each.
Circle K convenience stores have their own frozen version of the VooDew mystery flavor called the Froster. Additionally, they offer a $7.99 color-changing VooDew Froster cup (first fill free), which features a glow-in-the-dark lid and a charm designed to clip onto the straw that you can attach to your Crocs.
Here’s all you need to know about VooDew and the speculations surrounding its mystery flavor.
What is Mountain Dew VooDew?
Mountain Dew VooDew is a seasonal drink offering a mystery flavor. According to the brand, it combines a hidden treat with Mountain Dew’s signature citrus flavor, providing a thrilling taste experience. This drink is released nationwide as part of Halloween festivities.
What is the mystery flavor of Mountain Dew?
The flavor of the beverage is typically kept under wraps until Halloween. However, in 2023, Mountain Dew revealed in late September that the mystery flavor was a collaboration with Airheads, specifically Cherry Airheads. Previous flavors were drawn from Sour Patch Kids (2022), Starburst (2021), Skittles (2020), and candy corn (2019), according to food ranking website Sporked.com.
This year, guesses circulating online have varied between pink Starburst chews and Twizzlers. Tyler Bowers expressed on Sporked, “I’m getting a very strong strawberry flavor, which feels quite familiar. My initial thoughts as I sip are Strawberry Laffy Taffy or maybe Strawberry Starbursts.”
Instagram drink tracker Beverage Champion recalled flavors like Sweet Tarts Ropes and Runts, while others speculated flavors like Starbursts, Gobstoppers, and jawbreakers. One follower shared, “My husband and I guessed cotton candy but Runtz would be another fantastic guess! We loved it and can’t wait for the flavor reveal!”
While I’m more inclined towards chocolate treats—probably not a good choice for a VooDew blend—I found both the regular and Zero Sugar versions of VooDew to be quite flavorful and reminiscent of Sweet Tarts or pink Starbursts.
