Melanie Hamrick, Mick Jagger’s girlfriend, is shrugging off criticism regarding their 44-year age difference.

The 37-year-old Hamrick shared her views on their relationship with the 81-year-old Rolling Stones star in an interview with The Sunday Times, where they are also parents to a child together.

“I don’t dwell on it,” she commented about the age gap. “Everyone has their own views. If you let other people’s opinions affect you, regardless of where you are in life, it can lead to issues.”

She further remarked, “I focus on my own happiness. Am I happy? Yes. Are those around me happy? Yes. Am I causing harm to anyone? No. So they should just mind their own affairs.”

Hamrick, previously a ballerina and now an author, released her first novel, “First Position,” last year. She and Jagger have been a couple since 2014, after meeting at a Rolling Stones concert in Tokyo. At the time, she was just 26 and wasn’t phased by meeting the rock icon.

“As ballet dancers, we encounter many famous figures and often think, ‘Who are you?’” she explained. “To us, ballet dancers are the true stars; that’s who we admire and study.”

The couple welcomed their first child, a son named Deveraux, in 2016. Hamrick expressed her love for her baby on Instagram, stating, “I’m so in love with my baby Deveraux Jagger 💙.”

In 2019, Hamrick retired from the American Ballet Theatre, explaining, “While the A.B.T. schedule is quite appealing, it’s challenging to balance with motherhood and my current lifestyle. Some days, I feel unstoppable, while other days I barely manage to keep up, which isn’t fair to myself. I cherish ballet, but sometimes my focus is elsewhere. I’ve performed enough ‘Swan Lakes’ to know when it’s time to step back.”

Discussing her partnership with Jagger on the “Today” show last year, she stated that they are both “very supportive of each other’s careers,” emphasizing that she is “more than just someone’s partner.”

Jagger was previously in a relationship with fashion designer L’Wren Scott from 2001 until her tragic passing in 2014. He also has seven other children from different relationships.
